Tees Valley Lithium is building a world-class merchant lithium refinery in the Billingham chemical cluster on Teesside. We convert high-value lithium feedstock from a diversified domestic and international supply base into battery-grade lithium using Veolia's commercially validated process technology: enough to support production of 550,000 electric vehicles a year from Phase 1, rising beyond 2 million at full capacity.
Most lithium refineries are tied to a single mine or a single customer. TVL is different by design. As an independent merchant refiner, we buy feedstock on the open market from multiple sources (established international producers, emerging UK projects and recycled material) and sell battery-grade lithium to any customer. We are also able to offer refining on a tolling basis for customers with their own material. That flexibility is supply-chain resilience, and it is exactly what the UK’s Critical Minerals Strategy calls for.
